Recording Location In BRIDGE.app
To record you location in the BRIDGE.app, simply begin a video recording. All available data sources are recorded in sync when begining a recording.
Exporting Location Data From BRIDGE.app
Exporting location data from the BRIDGE.app is done in the same way as export video files. See the recording section here for details
Location Settings In Bridge Controller
Recording Location In Bridge Controller
Once a location device is connected and configured, Recording location on the bridge controller can be done through the data logging function.
Dropping POIs
In addition to the track line that gets created when capturing ROV location, full sensor data will be recorded every time a marker is placed on the map, or a video recording is started/ended. Markers can be placed on the map using a Point of Interest (POI) or whenever a photo is taken. ‘Drop POI’ can be set as a program button in the MAIN MENU → SETTINGS → CONTROLLER → INPUT MAPPING → PROGRAM BUTTONS page.
Exporting Recorded Location Data From Bridge Controller
Recorded location and data files can be renamed and organized in the file manager.
Viewing GPX Files
This file type is a universally recognized way to record sensor GPS data. It can be viewed in Google Maps or on nearly any GIS software. These instructions will pertain to Google Maps.
The easiest way to navigate to this page is by using the direct link. Type https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/ into your browser address bar or click the link.
This Google application will require you to log into a google account. If you do not have one, you can make one easily in just a couple of minutes. Google will prompt you to sign up if you do not have an account.
Google will open a page designed to organize a catalog of GPS maps. This can be a useful tool for organizing records of ROV missions. In the top left corner, there will be a large red “Create a New Map” button. Click this.
A map of the world will appear along with a number of tools. Below the default title “Untitled map” is the place where new layers can be created or imported. Click the blue “import” link.
Browse and select your .GPX file. A new file browser will open showing files on your computer. Select the .GPX file and click Open.
The file will upload, and Google will automatically zoom in on its location, scaling to fit the track line on your screen. On the left, relevant file data is displayed. Points corresponding to the start and end of the log, POI, pictures and the start and end of each video are listed in chronological order. Change the name of the file by clicking on “untitled map”. Clicking “share” allows you to share this map by email or by sending a link, just as you would share any file in your google drive.
Hovering over any point on the map or on the list will highlight the corresponding point. Clicking on a point will bring up a window containing a note file with all relevant data:
Time and date stamp.
Depth (if sensor pod available).
Heading (if sensor pod available).
Water Temperature (if sensor pod available).
Dissolved Oxygen (if installed).
Latitude and Longitude.
Points corresponding to snapshots or to the start and stop of the log file will also contain the file name. These data points can be edited in Google My Maps. Name, colour, and the text fields can be edited, and images can be attached to each point. This is a powerful tool for saving and sharing records of your ROV missions, however the current firmware has several limitations:
Snapshots cannot be taken during screen record mode.
Data from an Aqua TROLL sonde will not be recorded in the GPS log.
Finally, the track line will only show a different color on the ROV controller, not in the GPS file
Exporting Live Location Data From Bridge Controller
Live location and data can be exported to an auxiliary device Via Null Modem Cable.
Select the output data toggle in the locations menu and configure the port to export from.
