On-Board Recording

Release Version(s)4k UHD Camera (1.3)Launch DateDecember 20th, 2021

Product description

Customers now have the ability to record videos directly to their 4K UHD Camera's storage instead of the BRIDGE controller's storage. This setting is toggleable in the Camera specific settings page.

Problems solved

In the case where a customer wants to use a higher-intensity peripherals with their ROV, receiving said peripheral's data can become difficult due to the amount of tether bandwidth they require to communicate with the controller. To combat this we've added the ability to record directly to the storage on our new 4K UHD Camera which will in-turn alleviate tether bandwidth.

Known limitations

Extracting Photos/Videos

Requirements:

Method 1 (requires DHCP to be on in the controller Settings -> Network page)

Method 2 (requires no DHCP, using Wi-Fi will be slower)

Once setup, follow these steps on your computer (this only needs to be done once):

1. On your Windows PC, click the windows button and search for "Turn Windows features on or off"

2. Scroll down and check the option 'Services for NFS' and check all sub options, then click OK

3. Once changes are applied, click Close and exit back to the desktop

4. Now to mount the file system, open a File explorer window and right click on 'This PC' and select Add a network location

5.  Run through the wizard and in the 'Internet or network address field', input the string below replacing <controller_ip> with your controller's ETH0 IP address (can be found on the Settings -> Network page on the controller):

\\<controller_ip>\sdcard\

Note: If the physical setup uses a DTNode, the 4K UHD Camera can be accessed directly by replacing <controller_ip> with the 4K UHD Camera’s IP address. Also found in Settings->Network page.

6. The 4K UHD Camera’s SD card should now be accessible to view/copy/delete files. Note that viewing video files directly from this mount point will be slow. It is recommended to copy the files locally first
